Backup Mode

Files are copied from the SOURCE to the TARGET, as defined in the Backup Tree.

Backup Mode directs Double Image to back up the files and folders selected from the File Tree on the Source drive to the Target drive and folder specified in the "Backup To" field.

Before starting a backup session, you can prevent certain files and folders from being backed up by clearing their check boxes in the File Tree. You can also prevent files from being backed up, based on date, time, wild cards.

Additionally, you can change any options you see on the left panel relating to your backup session.

Restore Mode

Files are copied from the TARGET to the SOURCE, as defined in the Restore Tree.

Restore Mode, by default, directs Double Image to reverse what occurred during the backup session. All folders and files that were the Target initially now appear in the File Tree as the Source.  Similarly, all folders and files that were the Source initially now appear in the File Tree as the Target.  And, the "Restore From" path defaults to the same path shown in the original "Backup To" session.

Before starting a restore session, you can prevent certain files and folders from being restored by clearing their check boxes in the File Tree. You can also modify the Restore Tree selection, from the profile's default selection. Suppose you only need to restore one or two folders -- you would only select those folders prior to the actual restore process.

Additionally, you can specify restore options in the left panel. These options function just as they did during the Backup session. Once you specify the Backup Mode and Restore Mode path, it becomes part of the profile.
