Encryption options are located in the Backup and Restore options panel on the left side of the screen. Double Image utilizes the Windows NTFS EFS (Encryption File System) attributes to apply encryption or decryption of files on Windows controlled drives. When files and folders are encrypted, the font color becomes green for their file or folder name.
Windows volumes need to be formatted NTFS for encryption to be available. When relying on EFS encryption, it is very important that your system have a Windows EFS certificate.
If you use Double Image on other target drives with other file systems then encryption does not occur. If a profile with encryption options are set and the target platform does not support encryption the following warning message can appear unless you have warning displays turned off. In either case, warnings are written to the log: Warning: The target file system does not support encryption. Encryption will be ignored during this copy.
If the file is encrypted on the source, it is encrypted on the target. If the file is decrypted on the source, it is decrypted on the target.
Double Image will encrypt all Windows NTFS target files during the copy process. A warning message is presented (unless turned off) to alert the user of this intended action.
Double Image decrypts all encrypted target files during the copy process.
If the file is encrypted on the source and not encrypted on the target, Double Image makes no encryption changes to the target file.
